Something pretty special is coming this summer to the corner of Shoup & Black Forest road in Black Forest. The Black Forest Community Foundation, with the help of many donors and volunteers, is overseeing the construction of a new park, and we were excited to be selected as the General Contractor for the project. Called the “New Log School Park,” this new facility will be a community center of sorts, with a small “natural playground” for kids, open space for farmers markets and outdoor concerts, and a pavilion for a sheltered area to house picnic tables and more. We think this is a very cool project, and we’re looking forward to the finished product. You can view some of the concept renderings of opened park below.
We were first contacted by the Black Forest Community Foundation after the organization’s chairman read an article in the Gazette about our rebuilding efforts down at Venetucci Farm. He saw that we were re-purposing logs that were scorched in the Black Forest fire and using them to renovate the farm. He was intrigued, and contacted us to see if we could do the same thing for the Log School Park. We will be donating our time for this project, and we are glad to be a part of this community rebuilding effort.
There are many organizations that have been and will be a part of making this park possible, including:
- Black Forest Community Foundation
- Black Forest Together
- Black Forest Community Club
- Black Forest Trails Association
- Friends of the Black Forest Log School
- …and many others
Be sure to mark your calendars for the park commemoration on Saturday, August 16th, where the park will be opened as part of the Black Forest Festival, which is an annual event that draws more than 3,000 people. Stay tuned for more info!
