Black Forest Prairie Residence

This was the first home lost in the Black Forest Fire. The fire started close to this five-acre property, and the family lost nearly everything on it.

We already knew them — we had remodeled the house that burned. They called almost immediately, and we went straight into design together, collaborating with Larry Gilland of LGA Studios on a prairie-style home for a family with children and a parent who works from home.

The finished home was shown in that year’s Parade of Homes — the same year we rebuilt eleven homes for Black Forest families. Their rebuild was part of NBC Nightly News’ coverage of families returning to the forest.
