About this project

The story of Black Forest Ranch Residence.

The owners lost their home and everything in it to the Black Forest Fire. What the fire left behind was unexpected: nearly all of their trees survived, except the stand between the house and Pikes Peak. A home that never had a mountain view suddenly had one of the best in the forest.

So the rebuild was designed around it — a new stone-and-stucco ranch home in place of a tired older house, oriented to the view the fire opened, with a new shop alongside.

Their story was featured in NBC Nightly News’ coverage of families rebuilding in Black Forest.
