About us
About Stauffer & Sons
A family-run, design-build home builder in Colorado Springs — founded by Andy Stauffer in 1999 and still small enough that Andy is in the room from first sketch to final walk-through.
The name
We, Stauffer & Sons.
The name is literal: Andy, his wife Yukie, and their four sons are the family it’s named for. The boys grew up around job sites — and then, the way life goes, each found a path of his own. None of them frames houses for a living today, and honestly, that’s become our favorite part of the story: almost nothing turns out exactly the way you first drew it. Mostly, it turns out better.
We’ve come to think about homes the same way. The house you finish with is never quite the one on the napkin sketch — it’s the one your family actually grows into.
“We’ve lived in the same home for years, and I’ve always loved the idea of pushing my grandchildren on the same swing I pushed my children. To the extent I can help somebody else achieve that, I’m all in.” — Andy

Who you're hiring
You’re hiring Andy Stauffer — not a sales office.
Andy learned the trades hands-on, remodeling Victorian homes in Northern California before moving to Colorado Springs and founding Stauffer & Sons in 1999. More than three decades into his building career, he still meets with clients himself and stays involved through design and construction. The result is a builder chosen for judgment rather than for the lowest bid — someone who will tell you early and honestly whether a project is right, and whether we’re the right team to build it.

Along the way, we built the first LEED Platinum-certified home in Southern Colorado, took part in ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and did restoration work at Colorado landmarks including The Broadmoor and Venetucci Farms.
Small on purpose
The people you meet early see your home through.
We keep the team deliberately small — roughly ten select homes a year — so the people you meet in the first conversation are the people who see your home through, and so you’re treated less like a contract and more like family. A custom home is a long relationship, and we build for the years you’ll spend living in it.
The work
The projects we’re proudest of.
In their words
What it's like to work with us
If I were to build again tomorrow, I would call Stauffer & Sons Construction. Their subcontractors were exceptionally good. They didn’t fall short on anything. I have built two other houses, and I worked in a business where I dealt with contractors frequently, and by far, they went above and beyond my expectations and passed experiences. They were very conscientious and very good all around. I bought my set of house plans from a company in Idaho, and Stauffer & Sons was one of the three they recommended me from this area. I talked to all three, but Stauffer came out on top. I have already recommended them to about five friends.
