Black Forest Fire Rebuild

This property sits about as far north as the Black Forest Fire reached. Most of the land kept its trees — a single finger of the fire ran up, took the house, and left much of the forest around it standing. You can see the scorched pines at the edge of the cleared site in the gallery.

We rebuilt from the ground up: a timber-framed entry, a cherry kitchen, a study, a lower-level game room and bar — and a cedar sauna, the first one we ever built.

The owners moved back in, and they still live there today.
