Have you ever wondered how much each aspect of a home costs? People understand that a home’s cost consists of many different components, such as windows, flooring, light fixtures, etc. But how do you actually break down the cost of a home to know which parts contribute the most to the total price? For example, how much of the cost of a home goes towards the kitchen? What percentage of your home’s cost goes towards the mechanical systems? These are fair questions that are sometimes hard to answer. Andy Stauffer, however, recently contributed to an article on Realtor.com explaining the way he likes to break down a home’s cost to answer these questions, and more. Here’s an excerpt:
“Kitchens and bathrooms are the most expensive rooms to build, especially when the average cost for finishes like cabinets and countertops alone is $16,056. So if you’re looking to save money, ask yourself whether you really need that third full bathroom, or will two plus a half-bath do?”
