HowStuffWorks: Using Found Materials for Building

Have you ever visited HowStuffWorks.com? It’s a great website full of information with questions and answers on, well, how stuff works. Today, they published an article on how you can build homes with materials you find in nature. Andy Stauffer was quoted in it, and talked about the home we’re building that’s going to be using natural materials such as river rock. Here’s an excerpt:

Andy Stauffer, owner of Stauffer and Sons Construction… cites a house he’s working on that was built in 1913 that had burned down and needed rebuilding: “The foundation was made of river rocks that had been taken from the local river. We can’t use these rocks for the foundation today, but we will be using them to create beautiful and natural-looking rock walls around the property.”
